Position Overview
We are looking for a Database Migration Engineer with strong skills in Oracle and PostgreSQL internals, database development, performance optimization, and migration automation. The candidate will be responsible for converting Oracle-based applications and databases to PostgreSQL while ensuring accuracy, performance, and reliability.
Experience – 5 years to 7 years.
Work Location – Noida, India.
Work Mode – Work from office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oracle DB internals: Understanding Oracle-specific features like PL/SQL, packages, triggers, sequences, and data types.
- PostgreSQL internals: Knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, SQL syntax, and capabilities.
- Translate Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code to PostgreSQL SQL and PL/pgSQL.
- Handle differences in syntax, functions, and stored procedure logic.
- Understanding how to convert Data types Constraints, indexes, sequences, Users, roles, and privileges
- Performance Tuning
- Backup & Recovery
- Ensure rollback plans are in place in case of issues.
- Basic Linux/Unix system administration
- Database deployment and configuration
- Ora2Pg (most commonly used open-source tool) and pgloader
- Write ETL scripts in Python, Shell, or SQL for data transformation and movement.
- Automate migration workflows using scripting.
